March 2026 Newsletter
Weather continues to plague the East coast, with snow and cold temperatures. Ginny Van Zile offered these photos of her front yard…in Holmdel, NJ. Hope she lives next to enterprising kids looking for some spending money!
March brings us St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th (I can recall one of my early roommates who liked to cook adding green dye to a cake he had made), and Palm Sunday, on the 29th.
Last month we’ve heard only from Armond D’Agostino, Pat Howlett, Eddie Abplanalp, Carol Hill, Ginny Van Zile, Ann Zimmerman, Bob Alvine, and Wally Riker.
Wally was a huge help to me personally in setting up a Zoom meeting for members of a panel to interview a potential Rotary scholar living outside our area. He has done this before, for which our Club is most grateful.
Carol Hill, raised in Cedar Grove, asked about the whereabouts of about 8 classmates she recalled that also lived there. We located Mark Grohe in Union, WA (his voicemail mentions his name) but he has yet to respond to a telephone call or personal letter, and Sandra Ucci Bittel in Lansing, MI (left a message and wrote her a letter). Others were either deceased or had married names or lived in cities we did not have.
But better luck with Carol Cavanaugh Grover, still living in Kohler, WI (same address as was in our 1997 reunion roster). She transferred in from a Catholic school in Newark, so recalls not having a head-start friend-wise. Carol married a Chemical Engineer, who eventually purchased the company he worked for, and then sold it. She was to give me her email address, but hasn’t yet. She asked about Ginny Van Zile, who was to call her.
Please contact me here and I will provide what info I have so you can catch up with long lost friends! For security reasons we don’t want to post everyone’s contact information online.
Our next Zoom reunion is Friday, May 1, at 3 pm east coast time. Wally Riker will again begin a 2 pm for those who may need help logging on.
And, falling is only good when it’s autumn and the leaves have turned.
