Shane Berger Elected to the Board of the Bloomfield Educational Foundation

Terence Mullane, Chairman of The Bloomfield Educational Foundation (BEF) Board of Trustees announced today that Shane Berger, of Bloomfield, has been elected to the BEF Board of Trustees.

Berger is self-employed and brings years of community service experience to the BEF Board.  During his 13 years as a member of the Bloomfield Board of Education, he was a member of every committee, sometimes serving as Chairman and was elected President for two terms.

Additionally, Berger has served on the Bloomfield Library Board, was appointed by Governor Christie to the Council for Humanities, was President of the Educational Services Commission, served two terms on the NJ School Boards as the appointed Essex County representative, and served as President of the Essex County School Board Association.  He plans to support the BEF in their fund raising, special events, and public relations activities.

The Bloomfield Educational Foundation was founded in 1999 and is a registered 501c-3 organization. The BEF’s mission is to enhance the quality of education and educational opportunities and generate and distribute financial aid and other resources to and for the students of the Bloomfield School District for enrichment programs, continuing education and other projects.  The Foundation carries out its mission by focusing its support in the following areas: facilitating student development, promoting community and school partnerships. fostering the development of alumni, awarding college and vocation school scholarships to deserving high school seniors.
