November 2026 Newsletter

Please save-the-date for our next Reunion, by Zoom:  this Friday, November 6, at 3 PM east coast time. Joseph Fleres, Superintendent of Schools, will address us.  Wally has again graciously again offered to be available at 2:30 to assist with clicking on.  You’ll get the link and Agenda on Thursday, and then, again, Friday morning.

David Mead writes about living the good life in South Florida (way south Florida).  And, Bob Delezenski informs us of the passing of fellow classmate Dorothy Carlough.  Many of you use FaceBook, but ‘the grandkids kids’ all use TikTok and Instagram.  So it was through the latter new toy that we found photos of Joan Meekins and George Humphries.

How many dressed up this weekend, on Halloween?  Or had trick or treaters knock on your front door?  We had rain and were intently following the Ohio State – University of Southern California football game…so otherwise kept our house dark as so as not to be interrupted.  Jean Abby sends along a photo of her lighted and patriotic pumpkin with Halloween wishes.

Did you all enjoy sleeping in Sunday morning, with the advent of Daylight Savings?  And if you haven’t already voted early, please remember this Tuesday is Election Day.  November 11 is Veterans Day.  At Rotary every year I chair that program and will include: Johnnie Cash’s rendition of Ragged Old Flag; Ray Charles’ version of America the Beautiful; the poem It’s the Soldier by Charles Provlince; and the four points found online of Key Facts.

In the past month we’ve heard from: David Mead, Don Catino, Jean Abby, Annie Zimmerman, Armand D’Agostino, Lew Kain, Bob Alvine, Bob Delezenski and Wally Riker.

As a reminder of things past, did you ever have some of those mini-hamburgers at the White Castle?  Seems they were ahead of their time…as Sliders now seem to be all the rage!

From David Mead

Hello Bill and the remaining class of “1956”, David Mead here and turned “88” on 10/7.

Kathie and I are still living on our island paradise in Key Largo Fl. Key Largo is first island off the mainland going on to Key West 102 miles away. We have lived here since retirement in 2001 but have owned our property since 1978.

Life is good for us with the exception of a few minor ailments but nothing that keeps us from doing what we want to do. Our main activity is travel having been to 6 of the 7 continents and 50 countries. That includes visiting all 50 states.

Since getting older we have shifted to ocean cruising which is much easier on the body.  We wish all of the remaining class of “56” congratulations and good health in the future.

Regards, David and Kathie Mead
